We hadn't planned to do a walk on our way home, however, as we drove over the Whinlatter Pass there had been a fresh coating of snow overnight, and combined with the blue skies and sun, it was too much a temptation. So we stopped off at the visitor centre at Whinlatter and walked over to the summit of Lords Seat through the forest. From there we dropped back down over Barf before following the fofrest tracks back to the visitor centre for a lovely lunch, after another brilliant walk.
The fresh overnight snow was a real bonus to the walk
The forest restricts the views but you do get some tempting glimpses of the surrounding fells

Zooming in on the summit, we've walked up that wall and its a killer!
Sunlight through the pine branches, just about perfect!

As we headed back towards the car Derwent Water came into view, just stunning with the snow capped mountains behind?
