Another short walk this week, still trying to keep things easy until they can work out what's wrong with my back! We had arranged to go over to Loweswater to meet up with Roger and Ann Hiley, and Tim's doggie friends Harry and Bethan. I wanted to pay a return visit to Rannerdale Knotts, our last visit, a couple of years ago, had been on a rather grey and overcast day so the view weren't up to much. This visit was well worth the effort of the steep climb up the front from Hause Point. The views along Crummock Water and down over Buttermere towards Haystacks were outstanding.
A view across Crummock Water towards High Ling Crag on the slopes of Mellbreak
Another view across Crummock Water towards the distant Low Fell, as we started the steep climb up to the summit
The High Stile ridge, with Haystacks in the distance
Me on the look out for something to photograph ...

As we neared the summit of Rannerdale Knotts Grasmoor came into view

Gareth and Kathryn add a stone to the summit cairn, while Ann captures the moment on her camera
Bethan posing nicely on the summit for me
and for Sheena
A group summit shot, minus Harry and Tim!

Grasmoor
Looking down Rannerdale, with Loweswater visible in the distance
The massive bulk of Grasmoor dominated the walk back along Rannerdale
as did Whiteless Pike
It was a lovely warm afternoon and surprisingly quiet, we only saw half a dozen people in Rannerdale
The footbridge across Squat Beck has been replaced after it was washed away in last years floods
Whiteless Pike from the bridge
Me and Tim dawg in Rannerdale
Another shot of Whiteless Pike
One last look up at Grasmoor as we walked back to the cars at Hause Point
Sadly we were too late for the Blue Bells, but there were plenty of Fox Gloves to see
A final shot of Haystacks and Great Gable from the garden of Oak Cottage, oh how I wish I had this view from my garden!
