We couldn't believe the weather forecast for today when we first saw it. What are the odds of getting two absolutely stunning weekends together in January? After our walk last week I knew exactly were we would head for this one, Lingmoor Fell in the Langdale valley. The views as you walk along the spine of the fell are lovely at any time, but on such a clear winter's day as this one, they were just stunning. I don't think I need to say much more about the walk, the photo's say everything that needs to be said, enjoy!
On the way over we stopped for a couple of photos at Waterhead in Ambleside
Tim was waiting impatiently in the boot while we put our boots on
The bridge over Great Langdale Beck next to the car park in Elterwater
The Britannia Inn was looking lovely in the early morning sun
Looking towards Silver How (where we were last week) as we headed out of the village
Once we cleared the trees in Sawrey's Wood the views were stunning
Looking east from the disused Banks Quarry
I think I was having a bit of a bad hair day!
Despite all of the stunning views we got, this is my favourite photo from the walk
Looking down onto Chapel Stile, with Megs Gill behind
Looking out over the quarry to a distant Red Screes
From here you get a sneak peak of the Langdale Pike, the huge crag of Pavey Ark is always easy to spot
As we gained height Fairfield became more visible the Silver How ridge
A closer view

Now the Helvellyn range was visible, which looked to have a good coating of snow
Zooming in on Fairfield over Silver How
and onto yoke Ill Bell ridge in the far eastern fells
Peaking over the wall that runs along the ridge

Eventually Pike O'Blisco and the Crinkle Crags came into view
and then Bow Fell appreared

Looking up at Harrison Stickle from Stickle Ghyll
Harrison Stickle with Pavey Ark just visible on the right, from Side House
One last look along the valley towards Bow Fell before we turned the corner heading back to Elterwater
The car parks at Stickle Ghyll were very busy today, not surprising with weather like this!
A close up on Harrison Stickle
Icicles in one of the many streams we passed
Were the sun hadn't got onto the paths they were still frozen solid
The Langdale Pikes
